Amanda Page wins crown as Miss Wayland for 2013

Amanda Page was named Miss Wayland 2013 Saturday as the university held its annual scholarship pageant.

The pageant was held at Harral Auditorium on the Wayland Baptist University campus and Page, a senior English major from Plano who represented the School of Language and Literature, was one of 16 women vying for the crown.

Others in the pageant included:

•Megan Huerta, a sophomore molecular biology major from Van Vleck, who represented the WBU women’s soccer team

•Tomi Abbl, a junior sociology/psychology major from Tucson, Ariz., who represented Owen Hall

•Kathlyn Magallan, a senior communications major from Hale Center, who represented the media broadcasting crew

•Sarah Wennersten, a sophomore fitness management major from Maryville, Wash., who represented the WBU Police Department

•Ama Ott, a junior elementary education major from Amarillo, who represented the Mathematical Association of America

•Katelynn Murga, a sophomore biology major from Bayfield, Colo., representing Kappa Upsilon Chi

•Meagan Gausin, a junior elementary education major from Plainview, who represented the Llano Estacado Museum

•Celia Juarez, a sophomore biology major from Plainview, who represented BAS-BSM records

•Joshalyn Estrada, a junior elementary education major from El Paso, who represented Flemming Mays Tower

•Alycia Leal, a senior elementary and special education major from Portales, N.M., who represented AGC Apartments

•Olivia Bybee, a sophomore vocal music education major from Channing, who represented Human Resources

•Jenna Swift, a junior church music major from Hudson Oaks, who represented Alpha Delta Kappa

•Rachel Smith, a sophomore communications major from Lubbock, who represented International Choir

•Katie Jo Bice, a junior sociology major from Lockney, who represented the WBU Registrar’s Office

•Priscilla Topp, a sophomore Spanish major from Mexico City, Mexico, who represented the Baptist Student Ministries.

In addition to Page being chosen as Miss Wayland and receiving a $750 scholarship, other winners for the evening were:

•First Runner-up — Jenna Swift ($450 scholarship)

•Second Runner-up — Sarah Wennersten ($250 scholarship)

•Third Runner-up — Priscilla Topp ($200 scholarship)

•Fourth Runner-up — Katie Jo Bice

•Miss Congeniality — Joshalyn Estrada ($150 scholarship)

•Best Evening Gown — Katie Jo Bice ($200 scholarship)

•Best Interview — Meagan Gausin ($200 scholarship)

•Best Talent — Rachel Smith, who sung “The Girl in 14G” ($200 scholarship)
