Billy Graham wrote of the first followers of Christ that, “the men who followed Jesus were unique in their generation. They turned the world upside down because their hearts had been turned right side up.”

When we look at the world around us - economics, politics, poverty, famine, disaster, crime, slavery, incivility – it can seem the world is turned “upside down” but not for the better. Where can one turn for wise advise or to make wise decisions in light of the present situations? Indeed, the psalmist declares, “The Lord looks down from heaven on humankind to see if there are any who are wise, who seek after God.” (Psalm 14:2)

That last phrase is crucial, “who see after God.” True wisdom comes from the Lord. “Do not be wise in your own eyes; reverence the Lord, and turn away from evil” (Proverbs 3:7) and “the wise of heart will heed [God’s] commandments.” (Proverbs 10:8)

As followers of Christ we are called to be a unique generation. We can make wise decisions as we seek God together, as our hearts are turned right side up.

May God give you His wisdom as you make decisions and give counsel to others.

“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy.” (James 3:17
