Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of has led the charge in shaping e-commerce. Mapping his business plan while on a cross-country road trip and starting in his own garage, Jeff forged the company into the largest internet retailer in the world. In 2000, Bezos pioneered a new venture into human spaceflight with the creation of Blue Origin. And in 2013, he purchased the Washington Post with a desire to personally revolutionize journalism. Named Time “Person of the Year” in 1999, Bezos is the recipient of numerous awards including Fortune “Businessperson of the Year” in 2012. When interviewed about his approach to business Bezos answered, “The common question that gets asked in business is, “‘why?’ That’s a good question, but an equally valid question is, ‘why not?’”

This week Billy Graham delivered his final sermon to the nation through the video presentation The Cross as part of the “My Hope” emphasis. Wayland shared in this effort with the film being shown in chapel, in home, and across the WBU system. Faculty, staff, and students have shared their testimony of why they have given their lives to Christ, trusting him for salvation, forgiveness, and hope.

We could ask “why?” have you given your life to Jesus, but for those who believe the answer is clear.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

Perhaps the question we should ask is “why not?” give your life to Jesus. “Why not?” trust Him and receive his forgiveness. “Why not?” place your hope in the one who offers a new life, a new start, a new direction.  “Why not?” come to Christ.

“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” – John 1:12

Believer - share your hope in Jesus with someone this week and in the weeks to come,
Skeptic - “why not?”
