Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus,

“And you shall be my witnesses…” – Acts 1:8

This fall WBU will be participating in the My Hope America emphasis led by the Billy Graham evangelistic association. The plan is simple and personal.

Churches are asked to mobilize their members to simply host a meal in their homes the first week of November, watch the Defining Moments video (see below), share their personal testimony, and invite their friends/neighbors/guests to follow Christ as well. Resources are available free from the My Hope website (see below).

WBU will be emphasizing this effort system-wide. Chapel on November 6 at the Plainview campus will focus on the video and testimonies from faculty/staff/administrators/students in an effort to share the gospel. WBU’s external campuses are asked to hold their spiritual emphasis that week or have a special emphasis during the first week of November to do the same.

This summer, WBU sponsored the SBC Bivocational Pastors meeting and helped involve churches in this effort nationwide. I have also been able to assist individual pastors and churches in becoming linked with My Hope and mobilizing their members to share God’s message.

At WBU’s employee development, over 50 Matthew Kits with materials and tracts for people to share with others after showing the video were given out. More will be arriving at my office this week. Please let me know if you would like a kit or kits and we will get those to you. You can also order them directly from the My Hope website (see below).

This is an event, an evangelistic effort, that we want Wayland to be fully engaged with. The Office of Church Services can assist with coordination and training as desired/needed. The goal is simple – to intentionally share the good news of Jesus with every student and others as led by God in order to see them accept Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

Please join in this effort.

Pray daily for our students to receive Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.
Watch and download the video so you may share it with others.
Request Matthew Kits from my office or the My Hope website.
Share your personal testimony.
Encourage your church to participate.
Plan to invite your neighbors/friends/students/etc. to share a meal and watch the video in November.
Help with your campus’s spiritual emphasis.
Again, pray daily for our students to receive Jesus and their personal Lord and Savior.

May the Lord bless you in this new academic year and may all you do be for His glory and honor as we are His witnesses together,

Micheal Summers
