Deficiency Plan

When a school district cannot find a certified teacher, a non-certified individual may be employed under certain conditions. Usually a school district will request that the individual have a deficiency plan developed before an application for employment can be accepted.

A deficiency plan is a written evaluation completed by Wayland's School of Education listing the courses that an individual must complete in order to be recommended for the target certificate.

Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended will be necessary to develop the plan.

A $35 fee will be collected for the development of a deficiency plan for all students not previously enrolled in Wayland and who are making application to the Wayland Teacher Internship Program. The fee will be applied to the application fee upon enrollment in Wayland.

Due to the large number of requests received, there is usually a 5-10 day turn-around time on the preparation of deficiency plans. All requests are handled in the order they are received and every effort is made to process each request as quickly as possible.
