The "Herb-arium" - Notes from the Dean

November 11, 2010

Welcome to our first electronic edition of the School of Math and Sciences newsletter.  As you read the articles posted here, please take notice of the many academic accomplishments of our students and faculty through course-related activities and through numerous research programs in biology, chemistry, geology, and math.

I continue to be amazed by the dedication of our faculty and students to the mission of our university – “….to educate students in an academically challenging, learning-focused and distinctively Christian environment for professional success and service to God and humankind.”  Just consider that our faculty and students conduct most of the research projects highlighted here as an addition to their normal course loads!  Truly, this is an expression of our faith and commitment to a sense of purpose that extends beyond self-centered career goals.

There will be follow-up issues of this newsletter in which we will continue to elaborate on the many efforts of our faculty and students to carry Wayland’s light to the world.  Thank you for your continued prayers, participation, and support that enables us to grow and prosper “……in service to God and humankind.”
