GREK 1301-1302. Elementary Greek - New Testament (Koine) Greek, stressing vocabulary, conjugation, declension, parsing, and translation.

GREK 2301-2302. Intermediate Greek
- Grammatical principles in addition to advanced
study in syntax and translation. Prerequisite: GREK 1302.

GREK 5301. Biblical Greek I – a study of the language of the Greek New Testament with

PHIL 3304. Western Political Thought (HIST/POLS 3304) - Selected study of major political
philosophers and their ideas that have influenced the West’s understanding of important
political concepts on human nature, the state, and civil society. Prerequisite: POLS 2301.

PHIL 4303. Philosophy of Religion (RLGN 4303) - Philosophical thinking about religion
with emphasis on the Judeo-Christian tradition. Major attention is given to the nature of religious experience, the nature and existence of God, the problem of evil and suffering, religious epistemology, human destiny, and the relation of science and religion. Prerequisites: RLGN 1301 and 1302.

PHIL 4310. World Religions (RLGN 4310) - Introduction to the thought of major religions

RLED 4349. History of Christian Missions (RLGN 4349) - The history of Christian missions with an emphasis upon the Modern Missions Movement and the Baptist missions efforts. Prerequisites: RLGN 1301 and 1302.

RLED 4351. Contemporary Missions in Context (RLGN 4351) - overview of culture and

RLED 4361. Supervised Ministry (RLGN 4361) - Practical skills, healthy attitudes, and varied approaches to ministry under competent supervision and class participation. Persons presently in ministry positions will be required to find an appropriate supervisor. Prerequisites: RLGN 1301 and 1302.

RLED 5113-14. Practice of the Outward Spiritual Disciplines (RLGN 5113-14)– introduction to one or more spiritual disciplines oriented toward the external practices of the Christian life, practiced within a weekly spiritual formation small group of M.Div. students. Prerequisite: RLED/RLGN 5354.

RLED 5115-16. Practice of the Corporate Spiritual Disciplines (RLGN 5115-16)– introduction to one or more spiritual disciplines oriented toward the growth of Christian community, practiced within a weekly spiritual formation small group of M.Div. students. Prerequisite: RLED/RLGN 5354.

RLED 5161-62. Spiritual Development Mentoring Practicum (RLGN 5161-62) – practicum
to lead a weekly spiritual formation small group experience under the guidance of a faculty
supervisor. Prerequisites: 6 credits in RLGN/RLED 5111-16 and completion of more than half of the hours necessary for the M.Div. degree.

RLED 5335. Seminar on Principles of Pastoral Counseling (RLGN) - development of

RLED 5349. History of Christian Missions (RLGN 5349) - the history of Christian missions
with an emphasis upon the Modern Missions Movement and the Baptist missions efforts.

RLED 5354. Spiritual Disciplines and Christian Spirituality (RLGN 5354) – orientation to
the M.Div. program, survey of the spiritual traditions of the Western Church, and introduction to specific habits and practices which encourage a vibrant Christian life. To be taken in the first semester of enrollment in the Master of Divinity program.

RLED 5355. Principles of Pastoral Counseling (RLGN 5355) – development of helping
skills and examination of special theories of pastoral counseling, with emphasis on basic principles that apply specifically to ministry-related situations.

RLED 5360. Practicum (RLGN 5360) - a professional project conducted under the guidance of a skilled supervisor. May be repeated once for credit.

Theological Research and Writing Lab - Workshop to guide students through research, writing, and completion of Turabian style research project as required by the School of Religion and Philosophy. Course offered on-line and on the Plainview campus. May be taken as a co-requisite with the first upper level RLED/RLGN course which requires a research paper or if required by the instructor. special attention to the institutions, religion, and national life of the Hebrew people.

special attention to the background and origins of Christian beliefs and practices, and to the life of Jesus Christ and the early Christian community.
