POST-BACCALAUREATE TEACHER CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
WBU Amarillo offers courses towards teacher certification at the secondary level with all courses being taught in the evenings. Post-baccalaureate students can choose between two tracks towards certification.
Probationary Track
Within one year of employment with a school district, candidates must complete all of the basic requirements in the post-baccalaureate program. Students should make application for a Probation Plan through WBU's Amarillo Campus. The Probation Plan will be sent to the employing school district (where applicable). The Probation Plan lists all requirements for teacher certification. See requirements below.
Deficiency Plan Track
The Deficiency Track is designed to take three years. All work must be completed within these three years. Candidates are required to take at least 6 hours of courses every year in order to meet this time limit. Candidates should make application for Deficiency Plan through the Amarillo Campus. The Deficiency Plan is sent to the employing school district (where applicable). The Deficiency Plan lists all necessary requirements for teacher certification. See requirements below.
Post-Baccalaureate Requirements
This program is designed for the post-baccalaureate candidate who has completed a bachelor's degree with a 2.7 GPA or better. The basic requirements are as follows:
