In 1999, Wayland entered into a partnership with Kenya Baptist Theological College, sending professors to Africa for three-week periods, teaching classes that students may apply toward an Associate’s degree. In the summer of 2003, Wayland conferred Associate of Applied Science degrees on 16 students, the first to graduate from Wayland in Africa. In July 2008, Wayland conferred Bachelor of Art in Religion degrees to eight students, the first Bachelor’s level graduates of Wayland in Africa. Wayland continues a close relationship with the Baptist Convention of Kenya sending not only professors, but student missionaries through Wayland’s Mission Center.
