Queens advance with additional wins

The Flying Queen basketball team got two wins at home last week. They defeated the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma, 67-64, on Thursday, and took a 61-52 victory from Northwestern Oklahoma State University on February 12.

WBU took the early lead against the Lady Drovers of USAO and never let it go. Three Queens tied for high points. Stephanie Shaw, Christa Condron, and Jennifer Doherty each had 13 points. Joining them in double figures was Vanita Wright with 11. Shaw, who also had the game-high in rebounds with nine, dished out six assists, and had four steals.

Against Northwestern Oklahoma, freshman Katie Donaldson came off the bench to contribute 13 points. Shaw and Anastasia Okolo also contributed double digits, with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

These two wins advanced the Queen record to 8-6 in the Sooner Athletic Conference and moved them into the sixth place spot.

The next home game for the Queens will be Thursday, February 24 at 6 p.m. against St. Gregory’s University. They will finish their regular season at home against Oklahoma City University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 26.
