RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Skills Lab Instructor of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program reports to the Simulation Lab Coordinator. The lab assistant will assist the Simulation Lab Coordinator in the daily functions of the Simulation and Skills Lab at Wayland Baptist University.

SPECIFIC TASKS
AND DUTIES:

1.  Maintaining, preparing, and cleaning skills lab equipment.

2.  Maintaining storage of equipment and supplies.

3.  Ensures the availability of properly functioning equipment and supplies.

4.  Preparing equipment and supplies for skills lab.

5.  Developing a list of supply replacement needs.

6.  Maintaining skills equipment, simulation and supplies inventory list.

7.  Assuring the safety/integrity of equipment by storing equipment at the end of each learning session.

8.  Maintaining orderliness and neatness of lab for practice sessions.

9.  Supervising student use of equipment during learning sessions.

10.  Maintenance of skills lab scheduling log.

11.  Run open lab for students to practice skills.

QUALIFICATIONS: A commitment of Christian Higher education and in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular.
Education, Certification and Licence:

1.  L.V.N. in Nursing.

2.  Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR card.

Experience & Knowledge:

1.  Three (3) years of experience working as a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) 

2. A demonstrated commitment to serving the University's ethnically and culturally diverse population.  

3.  A deep commitment to Christian Higher Education and agreement with the purposes and philosophy of higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general,  and WBU in particular.  

4.  An understanding of and commitment to work with educational programs related to churches, businesses, industries, and the military.

5. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

6.  An ability to work effectively within a comprehensive university system.

Skills & Abilities:

1.   The ability to effectively communicate information and ideas orally and in writing.

2.   Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.

3.  The ability to understand and interpret personnel and student policies and procedures.

4.  The ability to be flexible, to prioritize and to be available to work extended hours as needed including evenings and weekends.

5.  Be pleasant with others on the job and display a good-natured, cooperative attitude.

6.   Be creative and be able to develop new ideas.

7.   Be persistent in the face of obstacles.

8.   Be honest, ethical, reliable, responsible, and dependable.

Additional Requirements:

1. Endorsement by the Executive Vice President/Provost.

2. Must be able to pass Background Checks.

3. Must have no delinquent or defaulted Student Loans on Credit Report.
