As a full-time faculty member, the Assistant/Associate Professor of Justice Administration and Public Administration will be responsible for teaching both undergraduate and graduate level courses in face to face and online formats. 


All qualified applicants will be seriously considered; however, due to current needs in the department, the preferred candidate would also have law enforcement or public safety experience. 


As a faculty member of WBU, this individual will represent the University’s spiritual emphasis to students, faculty, staff, and the community in a manner consistent with the University’s mission and purpose.  Nine month contract with 24 (twenty four) semester hours to be taught per year.

1.  Prepare and teach (24) semester hours of courses each academic year.

2.  Maintain a minimum of 10 office hours/week.

3.  Advise undergraduate and graduate students and assist with registrations and recruiting events.

4.  Assist the Dean and faculty members in developing the Justice Administration and Public Administration programs, reporting data, selecting textbooks, and developing syllabi.

5.  Serve on University, Faculty, and School Committees; assist with graduations and attend scheduled faculty and staff meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS: A commitment of Christian Higher education and in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular.
Education, Certification and Licence:

Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in public administration, justice administration, criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field.

Experience & Knowledge:

1. Recent experience teaching justice administration in a college or university setting is required.

2. Field or agency experience in law enforcement or public safety is required.
Skills & Abilities:

1.  Qualifications to teach justice administration at the undergraduate level and public administration courses at the graduate level mean the successful applicant must have a doctoral degree in hand by the time of appointment.

2.  Successful experience using technology in the teaching/learning process, interdisciplinary teaching, and/or online delivery a plus.

3.  The successful candidate will be able to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities without constant supervision; will be proficient with computers, technology, and related educational/classroom equipment; will have a strong interest in teaching and leading in the growth and development of graduate and undergraduate students; and will have the ability and desire to apply Christian principles in the workplace.

Additional Requirements:

1. Endorsement by the Executive Vice President/Provost.

2. Must be able to pass Background Checks.

3. Must have no delinquent or defaulted Student Loans on Credit Report.
