RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant/Associate Professor of History will teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in face-to-face and online formats.  He/she will represent the University’s academic and spiritual emphases to the students, faculty, staff, and the community in a manner consistent with the University’s mission and purpose.

SPECIFIC TASKS
AND DUTIES:

1.  Teach undergraduate classes on the Plainview campus or other campus in the Wayland system

2.  Teach graduate courses online and/or on other Wayland campuses.

3.  Advise graduate students and undergraduate students majoring in history.

4. Serve on university and school committees.

5.  Assist in program/curriculum development

6.  Promote academic programs and involvement with community activities

7.  Attend scheduled faculty/staff meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS: A commitment of Christian Higher education and in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular.
Education, Certification and Licence:

1.  An earned doctorate in history from a regionally accredited institution.

2.  Qualified to teach one or more of the following areas a plus:  Atlantic world, Pacific rim, African, Latin American, or Asian history.

Experience & Knowledge:

1.  Previous college teaching experience desirable.

2.  Commitment to teaching excellence.

3.  Understanding of and commitment to Christian higher education in the Baptist tradition

Skills & Abilities: 1. A strong commitment to academic rigor and teaching.

2. The ability to communicate well with students and colleagues

3. Proficiency with computer software and educational projection equipment.

4. Ability and willingness to teach some courses online

Additional Requirements:

Must have no delinquent or defaulted items on Credit Report.  A credit check will be conducted to insure the requirement is met.
