The Coordinator of Student Health Services provides a nursing-only clinic for all WBU students, both traditional and non-traditional and employees.


1.  Maintain positive rapport with students, faculty, staff and administrative.

2.  Maintain regular clinic hours and are to be maintained in conjunction with the regular academic calendar as defined in the University catalog.  Additional summer hours will be maintained during the times various camps are being conducted.

3.  Evaluate immediate health status of all students coming to Health Services for care.

4.  Treat all illnesses and injuries within the guidelines of standing orders provided by local physician, including providing medications as directed.

5.  Refer students requiring additional care to local physicians, dentists and other health entities.  Provide transportation for students as needed.

6.  Assemble and maintain student health records and insure students comply with current immunizations requirements.  This includes being the collection point for meningitis shot records for the university.

7.  Provide health and wellness education to students, both one-on-one and in group meetings.

8.  Make health services and education available to faculty, staff and administration when feasible.

9.  Make day and evening calls to the dormitories if necessary.

10.  Accompany students to emergency room as needed.

11.  Assist students in submitting insurance forms.

12.  Maintain information on medical insurance policies available to students and assist students in purchasing these policies if desired.

13.  Continually seek ways to improve services provided.

14.  Maintain confidentiality of patients.

15.  Coordinator work activities of Secretary to Health Services and Counseling.

16.  Participate in campus activities.

QUALIFICATIONS: A commitment of Christian Higher education and in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular.
Education, Certification and Licence:

Current Registered Nurse (RN) certification required.

Experience & Knowledge:

1.  Two (2) years experience in field of Nursing.

2. Two (2) years proven experience in working and maintaining confidential medical records.

Skills & Abilities:

1.  Proficient in operating a personal computer and in using a variety of software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

2. Ability to utilize good written and verbal communication skills.

3.  Ability to work under stress.

4. Must be willing to work with other departments and individuals.  

5.  Must be willing to work some evening and weekends when needed.

6.  Must be willing to be available when problems arise after hours and on the weekends.

7.  Ability to contribute to the spiritual, intellectual and social life of each student who attends WBU.

8.  Ability to demonstrate a commitment to the goals and lifestyle of Christian Higher Education and will help plan and participate in activities which develop leadership skills and reinforce Christian values.).

Additional Requirements:

Must have no delinquent or defaulted items on Credit Report.  A credit check will be conducted to insure the requirement is met.
