Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness


The Assessment Management Analyst develops, implements, and maintains the effectiveness program and assists in assessment activities to promote the continuous improvement of the university. The Assessment Analyst will help document assessments and create reports in accordance with accreditation and federal guidelines and requirements.


1.  Develops, administers, and analyzes course evaluations for the university system.

2.  Responsible for monitoring, tracking, and analysis of institutional academic assessments.

3.  Develops, administers, and analyzes university-wide surveys related to institutional effectiveness.

4.  Assists in administering the planning, budgeting, and effectiveness program for the university system.

5.  Assists schools and departments and faculty and staff to adopt best practices in measuring student learning, managing student feedback on teaching effectiveness, and improving assessment methods.

6.  Assist in documentation of assessments and reports to fulfill accreditation and federal requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS: A commitment of Christian Higher education and in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular.
Education, Certification and Licence:

1.  Bachelors Degree in business, computing, research, statistical analysis, English or education is required.

2.  Significant experience in these fields or in related fields in higher education can be considered in lieu of required degree.           

3.  Masters Degree in business, computing, research, statistical analysis, psychology or education is preferred.

Experience & Knowledge:

Assessment experience within higher education is preferred. 

Skills & Abilities:

1.  Advanced computer applications skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access are required.  Experience with academic or administrative computing systems or networks also desirable.

2.  Outstanding communication skills both verbal and written.

3.  Expertise in the principles and practices of assessing and assessment strategies.

4.  Awareness of the current trends and directions in assessment.

5.  Basic understanding of both quantitative and qualitative research methodology.

6.  Ability to retrieve, organize, understand and analyze data.

7.  Possess the initiative and self-discipline to organize and conduct projects independently.

8.  Ability to work successfully with others to accomplish the goals of the institution.

9.  Willingness to travel and work hours beyond the normal university schedule.

Additional Requirements:

Must have no delinquent or defaulted Student Loans.  A credit check may be conducted to insure the requirement is met.
