Director of BAS/BCM Records


The Distance Students/Plainview Advisor is responsible and accountable to the director of BAS/BCM Office in all departmental operations.  This position is responsible for representing Wayland Baptist University to all students, staff and faculty in a manner which is in keeping with the mission and vision of the institution.


1.  Creates and updates distance and Plainview BAS/BCM/AAS student degree plans.

2.  Advises student in a manner sufficient to maintain appropriate movement towards degree completion

3.  Schedules and facilitates student appointments

4.  Provides a high level of student services by communicating with students via phone and/or email

5.  Provides students with appropriate and required documents such as Request for Degree Plan, Change of Degree, EPD forms, etc.

6.  Attends Plainview registrations

7.  Assists distance students with the process of online registration

8.  Responds to directives of the director of BAS/BCM Office.

QUALIFICATIONS: A commitment of Christian Higher education and in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular.
Education, Certification and Licence: Bachelor’s Degree required.


Experience & Knowledge:

1.  At least 2 years office and computer experience

2.  Academic knowledge including, but not limited to, WBU degree requirements and degree plans or the proven ability to acquire and retain such knowledge in a timely manner.

Skills & Abilities:

1.  Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral.

2.  Meticulous attention to detail.

3.  Excellent organizational skills.

4.  Computer proficiency.

5.  Must possess the analytical skills to evaluate transfer credits and the ability to learn and retain vast amounts of information from a wide variety of sources.

6.  The ability to deal fairly and diplomatically with students, faculty and staff in the university system.

7.  Punctuality, dependability, integrity, honesty and loyalty in the performance of duties in the position.

8.  A commitment to Christian Higher Education and agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian Higher Education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas generally, and Wayland Baptist University particularly.

9.  A positive force in the office portraying a positive attitude toward other office personnel in phone conversations and in greeting executive directors, students, deans, faculty, and staff members.

10.  A written statement of personal faith in Jesus Christ is required.

Additional Requirements:

Must have no delinquent or defaulted Student Loans.  A credit check may be conducted to insure the requirement is met.
