executive director and dean's message

As Executive Director and Dean, it is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the Fairbanks campus of Wayland Baptist University.  If you are looking for an approach to higher education that is affordable, flexible, and designed to meet the needs of both traditional and non-traditional students, you have come to the right place.

As one of fifteen external campuses, the Fairbanks campus “exists to educate students in an academically challenging, learning focused, distinctively Christian environment for professional success, lifelong leaning, and service to God and humankind.”  The Wayland Baptist University system is the fourth largest Baptist University in the country and is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the highest level of accreditation in the United States.  We are also ranked, by the United States Department of Defense, as one of the top 10 universities in the world in providing outstanding educational opportunities to military personnel and their families.

At the Fairbanks campus, instruction is provided in a variety of formats: face-to-face classes; hybrid classes (a combination of face-to-face and online classes); and virtual classes.  In an effort to meet the needs of our working adult learners, our face-to-face classes meet during the evening hours or on weekends.  Classes are taught on Fort Wainwright, in North Pole, and at Eielson Air Force Base.

Our Christian faculty and staff are skilled in meeting the needs of civilian and military students who are interested in obtaining the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in today’s global society.  We believe in lifelong learning personally, professionally, and spiritually.

Wayland Baptist University-Fairbanks encourages you to dream BIG and to set your goals high.  We are eager to help you reach those goals.

May God bless you as you “Seek Your Dream.”
