Wayland Baptist University - Clovis awards 36 diplomas

Wayland Baptist University - Clovis awarded 36 degrees during a commencement ceremony held Sept. 28 at Central Baptist Church.

Two students earned graduate degrees, while 34 earned the baccalaureate degree.

Master's graduates were Carl Frentz, Master of Education; and Gissell Grande, Master of Business Administration. Those receiving the bachelor's degree included Tisha Lynn Adams, Kuni Ann Archer, Keith Wesley Babineaux, Andrew Thomas Bailey, Myra Barnum, Chester E. Beckert, William R. Bumphrey, Jesse J. Busby III, Ben R. Cheney, William M. Crutchfield, Fred F. Driver II, Robert Marshal Gilmore III, Russell Bradley Grimes, Michael C. Hernandez, Blanca E. Hull, Timothy James Inman and Brian MacDonald.

Other graduates included Bryan L. Mason, Mary Ann Maxwell-Harris, Michelle Lee McGillis, Maria C. Palausky, Robert M. Palausky, Stephen J. Pederson, Elisabeth Ann Phillips, Michael R. Poole, Patricia Potter, James Kevin Russell, Leisa Joan Saiz, Douglas Robert Schwartz, Rosemary L. Smith, Eric J. Troost, Bruce C. Vincent, Jennifer Marie Williams and Virginia May Wood.

During the commencement ceremony, Col. Jeff Remington, commander of the 27th Flight Wing at Cannon Air Force Base, brought commendations from the Air Force. Stan DeMerritt, registrar at Wayland Baptist University, sang "God Bless the USA" and Dr. Bill Hardage, vice chancellor for the Wayland system, conferred the degrees on graduates. Dr. Otto B. Schacht, chair of the Division of Business at Wayland, gave the commencement address.

Dr. Carol Green is dean of the Clovis campus, which had a fall enrollment of 196 students, up 20 percent from last fall. The campus offices are located at 121 E. 4th St., with classes held at Cannon Air Force Base as well.
