PLAINVIEW - Brian McCoy of San Marcos, owner and chief executive officer for McCoy's Building Supply Centers, will give the keynote address for Wayland Baptist University's winter commencement ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13 at 2 p.m.
Approximately 65 students will receive diplomas ranging from baccalaureate to master's degrees during the ceremony, to be held in Harral Memorial Auditorium. Joell Beagle, a senior from Alamogordo, N.M., will give the student address.
A native of Galveston, McCoy earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Texas Tech University. McCoy's company operates 85 locations in five states. McCoy is also chairman of the board and majority owner of Balcones Bank in San Marcos. Additionally, he is a partner in McCoy Land & Cattle Company, a cow-calf operation with land holdings in far West Texas.
Active in church and civic affairs, McCoy also serves on the board of the Lumbermen's Association of Texas, KIXL Broadcasting and Intimate Life Ministries.
McCoy and wife Wetonnah are involved in marriage and family ministry at Solid Rock Church, where he serves as trustee. The couple has a grown son, Reid, who serves in the U.S. Navy, and a daughter, Meagan, a senior at the University of Richmond in Virginia.
