SIFE competes are regionals, Hall named Fellow Dr. Bobby Hall

PLAINVIEW - Dr. Bobby Hall, associate professor of business at Wayland Baptist University, has been named a Sam M. Walton Free Enterprise Fellow for the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team at Wayland. Active on more than 1,400 college campuses in 33 countries, SIFE encourages students to take what they are learning in the classroom and apply it to real-life situations, and to use their knowledge to better their communities through educational outreach projects.

Under Hall's leadership, the Wayland SIFE team will present its educational outreach projects at the 2003 SIFE Regional Competition and Career Opportunity Fair in Dallas on April 9. A panel of local and national business leaders and entrepreneurs will rate the overall effectiveness of each team's effort, and regional champions from around the country will advance to the National Exposition, slated for May 11-13 in Kansas City, Mo. The national champion will compete at SIFE World Cup 2003 in Mainz, Germany in October.

Wayland's SIFE team has hosted several events for the community during the 2002-03 school year, including a workshop on marketing and mapping contact points for business owners, a job hunt seminar on resume and interview skills and a checkbook balancing seminar for local Girl Scouts.

More than 400 Sam Walton Fellows nationwide train and motivate SIFE team members annually. The fellowship was created in 1990 by the Wal-Mart Foundation and is named for Wal-Mart's founder.
