Pioneer Band marching in indoor show
PLAINVIEW – The Wayland Baptist University Pioneer Band, directed by Timothy Kelley, will perform its annual indoor show at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, in Harral Memorial Auditorium. Admission to the concert is free and open to the public.
Kelley said the show, “On Broadway,” is patterned after the world acclaimed stage shows by the professional groups Blast and Stomp.
“We will feature a wide variety of music from Latin Jazz to Classical to Broadway Show tunes,” Kelley said. “There will be an extended percussion feature set in the show that will include demonstrations by solo instruments, as well as full percussion ensemble.”
The show will feature music from Tchaikovsky as well as pieces from Broadway shows Send in the Clowns, On Broadway and Phantom of the Opera. The concert will close with “People Need the Lord.”
Kelley said the majority of the show will feature the marching band in an indoor setting with special staging, lighting and other stage effects.
“There is something here for everyone,” Kelley said.
