PLAINVIEW – Wayland Baptist University’s School of Music will join Lubbock Christian University for a pair collaborative concerts taking place this Friday and Saturday. The concert will be held at LCU in Lubbock on Friday and repeated on Saturday in Wayland’s Harral Auditorium. Both concerts begin at 7:30 p.m.

This is the fourth collaboration between the schools with the event taking place in the spring every two years. This is the first such concert for WBU’s International Choir Director Dr. Hyung Chae. The concert involves LCU’s Praise Choir and Chamber Singers, directed by Dr. Philip Camp. Wayland’s International Choir, directed by Dr. Chae and accompanied by Dr. Richard Fountain, will be joined by the Wayland Singers under the direction of Dr. Debra Buford and accompanied by Mrs. Jennie Hsu.

Each choir will perform two pieces individually during the first half of the concerts. The arrangements will include spirituals, hymns, classical pieces and contemporary choral numbers. Following a brief intermission, the choirs will combine to perform the Lord Nelson Mass by Joseph Haydn with full orchestra. Soloists for the Wayland performance will be WBU alum Corina Browning, soprano, alto Lillie Cooper, tenor John Solis and bass Blake Boyter.

Admission to the concert on Saturday is free and open to the public.
