Resume Writing
A résumé is a highlighted summary of your personal, educational,
and professional accomplishments drawn together to introduce you to
a potential employer. It is important to remember that your
résumé is the first impression that the potential employer
will have of you and that they will use it to screen you in or out
of the hiring process.
Below is a general idea of topics to include in your résumé
and the most common way in which they are organized. No matter what
format you choose your résumé should be well organized, neat
and easy to follow.

CAREER OBJECTIVES
The objective is the focal point of your résumé. If not included
in your résumé, you must state it in your cover letter.
The remainder of your résumé should support your objective.
Your objective should be concise, focused and targeted to your goal.
If you are writing or updating your résumé for a particular
job, your objective should be specific to that job.
EDUCATION
Degree earned, date/month/year, institution, major, minor, emphasis,
specialization, and GPA (if above 3.0). Specialized course work may
also be included.
EXPERIENCE
Prospective employers view this section closely. They will pay
particular attention to your experience and abilities in relation
to their organizational needs. Include the name of the employer,
city, state, date of employment and position title with the most recent
experience first.
ORGANIZATIONS AND ACTIVITIES
Include professional, school and civic activities. Stress leadership
roles, positions of responsibility, accomplishments, and honors received.
SPECIAL SKILLS
Note if you have computer skills and training. List programs and applications
you are familiar with and the types of computers you have used.
