President’s Ambassadors

President’s Ambassadors is an institutional advancement organization that serves the Office of the President and the Office of Institutional Advancement in the fostering of relationships with all University publics including alumni, the Board of Trustees, campus visitors, special guests of the President, current and prospective donors, and the community at large.

Who can be a President’s Ambassador?

This group of 8 – 12 upperclassmen is nominated by faculty
and staff, but self-nominations are also accepted in March of
each year. Nominated students who wish to apply for the
program fill out an application and participate in an interview
conducted by representatives from the Office of the President
and the Office of Institutional Development.

What are the qualifications for nominated students?

• Students should be classified as a junior or senior for the year they wish to serve.
• Students who have served in Student Foundation as underclassmen are given preference.
• Students should be in good academic standing.
• Students should be in good standing in the Dean of Student’s Office.
• Students should be personable, energetic, and engaging.
• Students should demonstrate existing leadership skills.
• Students should represent the Christian values on which Wayland was founded.
• Students should represent the student population of Wayland Baptist University in a positive and capable manner.

What are the benefits of participating in President’s Ambassadors?

• The Ambassadors enhance their personal and group leadership skills.
• The Ambassadors develop public relations, marketing, development, and communications skills
• The Ambassadors meet and engage with many adults as they share their Wayland experience.
• The Ambassadors serve as student hosts at University events on campus, in the President’s home and in the community and the surrounding area.
• The Ambassadors represent the student “faces and voices” of Wayland.
• The Ambassadors travel, on a limited basis, with the Wayland Baptist University advancement and development officials.
• The Ambassadors are supplied with personal business cards and official apparel to include a navy blazer, slacks, shirts, ties, shoes.
