ACADEMICS AT KBTC

Wayland Baptist University responded to the request of KBTC and entered into a partnership to provide college level studies for ministry students. In 2000, several students began their studies with Wayland Baptist University through this partnership.  The only degree offered with this partnership was an Associate’s Degree of Applied Science until 2006. With much prayer and help from Wayland Baptist University, the school introduced a fully-accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Religion in 2006. In order to provide the needed courses, Wayland sends several professors to the Kenya campus each year. Dr. Vaughn Ross, professor of biological science for Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, is the main organizer of the alliance.

Wayland’s Board of Trustees approved the first candidates for graduation in July 2003.  Sixteen students received their Associate’s of Applied Science Degrees.  This first group (class 702) is now pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Religion.  Another group has recently been introduced to the program (class 703).  Class 703 is now working toward their Associate’s of Applied Science Degrees. Without the help of Wayland faculty who are willing to go to Kenya, the relationship of KBTC and Wayland Baptist University would not be possible.
