Wayland offering music scholarship auditions in Lubbock
Wayland Baptist University's Department of Music will be hosting music scholarship auditions for prospective music majors or minors at the Wayland Lubbock campus, 2002 West Loop 289, on Saturday, Feb. 9.
Audition times are available in the afternoons and students wishing to audition should RSVP to Dr. Scott Herrington, Director of Choral Studies at Wayland, by calling (806) 291-1062 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org to set up a specific time.
According to Herrington, this is the first time Wayland has taken auditions off the Plainview campus and into other communities.
"This would be a great opportunity for students to audition and see what kinds of scholarships might be available to them," Herrington said. "Or they may just want to get an audition experience under their belt."
Students may audition on music they are working on or have performed for solo and ensemble, voice lesson literature or church music. An accompanist will be present or students may bring their own. Equipment will also be available if students choose to use prerecorded, taped accompaniment.
A scholarship committee of four faculty members will jury the auditions and make recommendations for scholarships. Members of Wayland's admissions staff will be on hand as well to answer any questions about the university and provide application information.
For more information, call Herrington at 291-1062.
