Poole promoted to director of institutional effectiveness

PLAINVIEW – Penny Poole has seen a lot of changes lately. First, she moved offices from the Nunn Business Building to Gates Hall when her supervisor, Dr. Bobby Hall, was promoted to assistant executive vice president.

Now, Poole is undergoing change again after being named Director of Institutional Effectiveness on Nov. 1. Poole had been working as institutional research analyst for the university under Dr. Hall, and when he was promoted to vice president for academic and graduate services, the directorship came open.

“Mrs. Poole’s knowledge base and more than a decade of outstanding service to Wayland combine to make her a natural choice for this position,” Hall said. “She has contributed tremendously to Wayland’s decision-making process through her research and analysis and has gained a great deal of experience in dealing with the requirements of Wayland’s regional accreditor, the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. I have no doubt that she will continue her record of success in this position. Wayland is indeed fortunate to have someone of her ability and commitment to advance into this important role.”

Poole has worked as an analyst for the past ten years, primarily compiling survey research, course evaluations, and any other data the university needed to make decisions. She also compiled data for all reports to agencies. In her current role, she’ll be more involved in the effectiveness side of the work, especially in terms of preparing data and gathering reports from offices for the accreditation reaffirmation from Southern Association of Colleges and Schools planned for 2008.

“I’m excited about being more involved with the reaffirmation process and seeing people more and getting to visit with the university offices,” Poole said of her new role.

A native of South Plains, Poole attended Floydada High School and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wayland in 1989. She is currently working toward her Master of Business Administration degree as well.

Poole and her husband, Ricky, have two children, Jessica, 15, and Zachary, 13. The family attends Parkview Baptist Church.
