PLAINVIEW – The Spanish Club at Wayland Baptist University is sponsoring a Hispanic Festival on Wednesday, April 26 at 2 p.m.
Slated for the second-floor auditorium in Gates Hall, the event is free and open to the public. The festival will feature food and guest speakers, including KRIA morning show host Dimas Garcia, former city councilwoman Irene Favila and Dr. Jose Rubio, Spanish instructor at Wayland.
According to Consuelo Salazar, a junior from Plainview and president of the organization, the event hopes to raise awareness of the Spanish Club at WBU and bring attention to the Hispanic population in Plainview.
“We want to emphasize the impact that Hispanics have had in our community,” Salazar said.
