Adams named Miss Wayland 2014

PLAINVIEW – Wayland Baptist University held its annual Miss Wayland pageant Saturday night in Harral Auditorium with 10 ladies competing to wear the crown in 2014.

The contestants took part in talent, evening gown and final question competitions as well as an interview that was conducted earlier in the day. When it was all said and done, Nicole Adams stood out as Miss Wayland 2014.

Adams, a psychology major from Amarillo, performed a dramatic reading for her talent, impressing audiences with her flair for the spoken word. She was also eloquent and confident in her response to the final question: “What does civility mean to you?”

Nicole Adams and MomAdams, who also serves as a President’s Ambassador, will represent the university as Miss Wayland throughout 2014. She was crowned by Miss Wayland 2013, Amanda Page.

Katelyn Johnson, of Plainview; Sara Johnson, of Clear Lake; Chelsea Langley, of Wickenburg, Ariz.; and Cara Nelson, of Odessa; were among the five finalists for the pageant. Nelson was named first runner-up with Sarah Johnson and Langley being named second and third runner-up respectively.

Langley was awarded for Best Interview, and Katelyn Johnson was Best Evening Gown. Magdalina Lucero, from Carlsbad, N.M., was recognized for Best Talent and the Miss Congeniality award went to Megan Summers of Amarillo.
